What's your favorite holiday movie?

"The Empire Strikes Back"

Yes, yes -- it is too a holiday movie. It has:

• Non-denominational religious messages
  
• A big snowy spectacular
  
• Family squabbles
  
• A long, wacky drive to visit with friends (trip to Cloud City)
  
• Festivus miracles (Yoda lifting the X-Wing out of the swamp, R2D2 getting the hyperdrive working at the last second)
• Little elfin helpers making the perfect gift (I would have loved to see Jabba's face when he unwrapped his frozen Han)

What's the nerdiest thing about you?

Yeah, Tiny E's right. This is like asking what's the coolest thing about the Fonz.

But here's a sampling, ripped from the headlines:

• I can only get my head around what's going on in my life if I can relate it to some piece o' sci-fi or another. For example, my life at work is Angel Season 5 right now, as I'm in charge of a bunch of stuff, but have to do others' evil bidding and don't have any fun. I've also mapped, in detail, the major events in the history of the company to the major events of the Star Wars Saga.  
• I own and cherish a pocket paperback copy of the Buckaroo Banzai novelization.
• During my semester abroad in London, I ate Frosted Flakes pretty much exclusively for a couple of weeks so as to collect all these bitchin Simpsons squirt rings:

• To get these things to take this picture, I had to heft a bunch of boxes of similar crap out of the office closet.
• But it didn't take too long to find them, because we have all the Simpsons junk grouped together in one box.
• I got distracted while I was putting this stuff up, because I came across a box o' Star Wars junk and took a peek. Looking at my Lobot figure, I pondered, not for the first time, "What's the deal with Lobot?" Then, I thought "I should look that up" (no, I shouldn't) and then immediately noted, "That would make a good Vox post" (no, it wouldn't)
• When I packed up the box and put it back, I heard a voice repeating "What is they bidding, my master" because something was pressing a button on this pen:

• I recently reworked my entire evening schedule so as to be in bed in time to watch Pee Wee's Playhouse on Adult Swim at 11:00. As a side benefit, I finally started getting enough sleep. But now that they're running it at midnight, I'm staying up too late.
• I own and proudly wear a Yoyodyne Propulsion Systems enamel pin
• I paid $10 for it
• At DragonCon

I would go on, but we'll be here all night, and I'm already plenty embarassed.
